Privacy policy

This page explains what skipschool collects, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

skipschool is operated by Luckiest Man Ventures LLC. Headquartered in Williamson County, Texas, in the greater Austin area. To reach us about privacy, use the contact page.

What we collect

• Your email address, when you join the email list. We use it to send you the skipschool newsletter. The signup form is run by greetform, our own form software, and your address is stored with our email service.
• Your name, work email, phone number and company details, when you claim a company page. We use them to confirm you represent the company, to publish the page details you give us, and to contact you about that page.
• Whatever you write, when you email us. We use it to answer you.
• Basic technical data, when you visit. Our hosting provider records standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.

We do not ask for more than we need, and we do not collect information from children.

How we use it

We use your information to send the newsletter you asked for, to run and improve the site, to review and publish company pages, and to answer your messages. We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with services that help us run skipschool, and only as needed for that job:

• Form software (greetform, which we operate).
• An email newsletter service that stores the email list and sends the newsletter.
• Website hosting, a database provider and a content delivery network that serve the site.
• An email delivery service for messages about a company page you claimed.

We may also share information if the law requires it.

Cookies and tracking

skipschool does not use advertising cookies, and it does not run an analytics tracker today. If we add analytics later, we will update this page first.

The site stores a few small items in your browser so it works properly: a note that you joined or closed the signup box so we do not ask again, the campaign tags on the link that brought you here, and a sign-in cookie if you manage a company page.

Some stories include a video or a post from another site, such as YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or X. These load only when they come into view or when you press play. When they load, that company may set its own cookies and receive your IP address under its own privacy policy. We also load fonts from Google Fonts.

How long we keep it

• Email list: until you unsubscribe, then we remove you from future sends.
• Company page claims: for as long as the page is active, and up to two years after.
• Messages you send us: up to two years.
• Server logs: a short period set by our hosting provider, usually 30 days or less.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link at the bottom of any email. You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the contact page and we will respond within 30 days.

California residents: you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete it, and to correct it. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.

Visitors from the European Union and the United Kingdom: skipschool is written for readers in the United States. If you use it from the EU or UK, you may ask to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, and you may object to our use of it. Contact us and we will respond.

Children

skipschool is written for parents and other adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and limited access. No website can promise perfect security.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date on it.
